Leo N. Jacobs was born in St. Martin, Stearns County, MN, on April 11, 1925, to Michael and Theresia (Utsch) Jacobs. He grew up and went to a country school in Spring Hill, MN.
Leo farmed with his family until 1940, when they moved to Melrose, MN, where he was employed by Kraft Foods. He left Melrose for a job with Western Union in Minneapolis, MN, where he met his future wife, Doris Gervais. They were married on May 7, 1949 at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Moorhead, MN.
Leo worked for Cass Clay Creamery in Moorhead while studying for his degree from DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago, IL. He graduated in 1960 as a Television Electronics Technician.
Leo was employed for eight years by Daveau Music Company in Fargo, ND, as a TV repairman. He then worked for Arvid Benson of Moorhead for ten years as service manager and subsequently as service manager for Dakota Food Equipment of Fargo. He retired in 1987, after which he worked part time for Tri-State Auction of Fargo.
Leo died Friday, July 22, 2005, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, at eighty years of age.
Leo is survived by his wife Doris, Moorhead; six sons, Michael (Patricia), Corona CA, Gregory (Deborah), Detroit Lakes, MN, Rodney (Laura), Fargo, James (Sherry) Fargo, Mark, Moorhead, and Robert (Patricia), U.S. Army, Korea; and one daughter, Mary (Timot
Leo was a member of the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus where he served as Faithful Navigator for two years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Visitation for Leo will be Monday, July 25, 2005, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead. The funeral mass will be at the church Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph'
