Leon E. Haas, 90, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Leon Edwin Haas was born October 14, 1916, in McIntosh County, near Ashley, ND, to Adam and Sophia (Woehl) Haas. Leon was raised on the family farm and attended country school near Venturia, ND.
Leon was united in marriage to Esther Bertsch, October 5, 1939, in Greenway, SD, and they lived and farmed near Venturia. They moved to West Fargo, ND, in 1960, where Leon worked as a mechanic for Benjamin Rott of West Fargo.
They moved to Moorhead in 1963 where Leon worked as a mechanic for Bud's Standard. He retired in 1982, and they continued to make their home in Moorhead.
Leon is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Esther, Moorhead; two daughters, Kathleen (Gerald) Hobbs, Edina, MN, and Linnea (Ronald) Montplaisir, Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Greg and Brad Montplaisir, and Jonathan Hobbs; and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Kian Montplaisir.
Visitation: Friday, November 17, 2006, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Saturday, November 18, 2006, at 11 AM, in Metropolitan Baptist Church, Fargo.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
