Leona May Wolf, the daughter of Leo and Pauline (Oster) Wolf, was born in Hazen, ND, on April 26, 1931. She grew up and received her education in Hazen, and in Halliday, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1949. Leona received her teaching certificate from Dickinson (ND) State Teacher's College and then taught in a rural school near Zap, ND,
On Nov. 19, 1950, Leona married Edwin E. Weidner in Halliday. In 1962, they moved to Fargo, ND, and in 1964, to Moorhead, MN. Leona worked as an aide at Elim Care Center, Fargo, for 12 years, until she retired in 1986. Her husband, Edwin died in 1981.
On January 10, 1987, Leona married LeRoy Jacobson in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo. They made their home on the farm in rural Christine, ND, and in Moorhead. Leona recently became a resident of Villa Maria in Fargo.
Leona was an active member in Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead, participating in their quilters group and as part of "Prime Timers". Leona and LeRoy volunteered with "meals on wheels" for 10 years. Leona enjoyed spending time with her family and doing cross-stitching.
Leona M. Weidner Jacobson, age 77, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 in Villa Maria, Fargo. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy, Moorhead; a son, David (Kathleen) Weidner, Sabin, MN; two daughters, Carol (Jim) Thoreson, Fargo, and Diane (Larry) Haug, Minot, ND; sister, Luella (Sig) Schaper, Halliday; 8 grandchildren; 5 stepgrandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, and a great-grandson, Christian Cavazos.
Visitation: Tuesday, 4 PM to 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
