Leonard E. Johnson, 97, Moorhead,MN, died Friday, November 24, 2006, in Villa Maria, Fargo, ND.
Leonard Edwin Johnson, son of Frank and Martha (Leebeck) Johnson, was born in rural Moorhead, where he grew up and graduated from Moorhead State Campus School. He worked for the Gamble Robinson Hardware Store in Moorhead for a short time and was later transferred by the company to Chicago, IL. In the early 1940's, Leonard moved back to Moorhead, and owned and operated a roller rink in Dilworth, MN. He later returned to the family farm in rural Moorhead and he operated his roller rink on the farm.
Leonard eventually moved to Montana where he lived and also operated a roller rink. He moved this business to Washington State, where he later sold it. In 1960, he moved to Fairbanks, Alaska and worked as a union carpenter for the oil industry. In 1997, he returned to Moorhead, where he once again made his home on the family farm. In his later years Leonard was lovingly cared for by his nephew, LeRoy Johnson and his wife Rosemary. Leonard great appreciated their care and support.
Leonard is survived by one sister, Lyla DuBord, Moorhead; two brothers, Ed, (Ella) Johnson, Moorhead, and David Johnson, Sabin, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
