Leone Elvine Larson was born July 13, 1928, to Willie and Emma (Wang) Larson, in Viking, MN. She graduated from Oslo (MN) High School and enrolled in nurse's training at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. After graduation, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Grand Forks Clinic.
She met John L. Kosmatka in Grand Forks and they were married on June 16, 1952, in Grand Forks. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1953. John died on August 22, 1971.
Leone continued her nursing career at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, until her retirement in 1988. Leone and John enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin on Cotton Lake, with family and friends. Leone died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Elim Rehab and Care Center, Fargo, at eighty years of age.
Leone was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, and was active in choir, library guild, and WELCA. She was an active member of People Living Single (PLS). She will be sadly missed and remembered for her beautiful vocal voice, outgoing personality and positive attitude.
Leone is survived by her sister, Lorraine (James) Goodijohn, and her brother, Arden (Myrna) Larson, both of Fargo; her sisters-in-law, Vivian Kosmatka, Forman, ND, Marion Huggins, Minto, ND, and Evelyn Puchalski, Yuba, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and a brother, Maynard.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer House and Elim Rehab and Care Center for their wonderful care.
Visitation for Leone will be Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Friday, March 27, 2009, at 11 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
