LeRoy W. Jackson

LeRoy W. Jackson, age 89, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, where he had been a resident since November 1, 2014.
LeRoy Winton Jackson, son of Fred and Gena (Rollie) Jackson, was born in Barnesville, MN, on May 10, 1929. He grew up and received his education in Barnesville, where he graduated from high school in 1947.
On Sept. 5, 1948, LeRoy was married to Ruth Gwynn in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, MN. They first made their home in Barnesville, where LeRoy worked at the City Bakery. In 1956, they moved to Fargo, ND, and in 1992, to Moorhead, where they had lived since.
LeRoy was employed by Super Valu Stores and managed several Red Owl grocery stores. In retirement he continued to work part time for Kraft Foods.
LeRoy loved his family and enjoyed time spent with grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle person who never said a bad word about anyone. His faith and family were important to him. He enjoyed fishing and ice fishing and participated in a number of ice fishing derbies. LeRoy and Ruth spent 23 winters living in Mesa, AZ. He was an active volunteer in his church and enjoyed working in their "Helping Hands" group.
LeRoy is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Ruth, Moorhead; a daughter, Barbara (Dan) Wrolstad, Bismarck, ND; a son, Keith (Claudia) Jackson, Mesa; four grandsons, Aaron and Nathan (Mandy) Jackson and Ryan (Krystal) and Cory Wrolstad; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heidi Heistan; a great-granddaughter, Carly Wrolstad; his parents; a brother, Ron; and a sister, LaVonne Hovland.
Memorials are preferred to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or Good Shepherd's Helping Hands group.
A memorial service for LeRoy will be Monday, July 30, 2018, at 2 PM, in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
