Lila M. Thorstenson, 90, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012, in Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo.
Lila Marian Peterson was born August 10, 1921, to Carl and Clara (Warberg) Peterson, in Maddock, ND. The family moved to Pelican Rapids, MN, in 1922, where she attended school until the 9th grade. Lila then attended school in Battle Lake, MN, where she graduated from high school.
On September 14, 1940, Lila married Harvey Thorstenson in Fergus Falls, MN. They lived in Foxhome, MN, until 1957, when they moved to Dilworth, MN.
Lila worked at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, from 1976 to 1987. In their retirement years, Harvey and Lila spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. Harvey died in June of 1996.
Lila enjoyed crafts, cooking, Hardanger, playing Bingo, and traveling to Mesa. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time and caring for her 4 daughters.
She is survived by her four daughters, Elaine (David) Beutler, LeSueur, MN, Ellen Schatz, Mesa, AZ, Evonne (Larry) Shellito, Woodbury, MN, and Eloyes (Doug) Winter, Detroit Lakes, MN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Flossie Hasbargen,
In addition to her husband, Lila was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 sisters, Ethel Furman, Edna Grefsrud, and Amy Whitlock.
