Lillian N. Anderson, age 90, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, August 16, 2012, in McIntosh Senior Living Center, McIntosh, MN.
Lillian Nina Ellingson, the adopted daughter of Martin and Minnie (Jermstad) Ellingson, was born July 27, 1922, in Warren, ND. She grew up in the Perley, MN, area and attended school in Borup, MN.
In 1940, Lillian married Elmer Hiller. They lived in Fargo, ND.
On November 23, 1951, Lillian married Merrill "Merle" Anderson whom she met while working as a cook on the Oliver Swenson farm, Perley. They lived in rural Perley, near the place, known for years, as the Wild Rice roller mill and dam. After Merrill's death in 1979 she moved to Halstad MN. In 1985, she moved to Moorhead to live, first at Sharpview Apartments, and later at Eventide Living Center and in May 2012 moved into the Eventide Lutheran Home. After a recent hospitalization, she moved to McIntosh, to be closer to her daughter and family.
Lillian did cleaning and housekeeping at the Gardner Hotel in Fargo, ND, and for a number of individuals in the Perley area. She worked at the American Crystal Café in Moorhead, she owned and operated the M & L Café, in Perley and she was the manager and cook at the Cenex Café, also in Perley. Lillian did in-home support for an individual with paralysis which made her very proud. Finally, she worked as a cook at the nursing home in Halstad.
Lillian was an excellent cook and baker. She sewed for her family, and was a hard working housewife & mother. Lillian really enjoyed dancing and many would express how light she was on her feet. In her retirement she was very fond of playing bingo at t

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill; her parents; a son, Marlowe Hiller; grandson, Christopher Breckel; her sister, Winnie Johnson; and brother-in-law, Clifford Johnson.
Visitation: Monday, 6 PM to 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at 2 PM in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley.
