Lillian E. Ward, age 94, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.
Lillian Elizabeth Stenson, the daughter of Olai and Anna (Heimark) Stenson, was born September 23, 1912 in Gary, MN. She attended grade school in Gary and high at North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo, ND, along with one year of college. She transferred to Concordia College, Conservatory of Music, Moorhead, and graduated in 1937.
From 1939 until 1951, Lillian lived in California. In 1942, she married Robert Schilling. They lived in California, and on the family farm near Gary. In 1967, they moved to Moorhead, where Lillian worked at the Knox Conservatory of Music in Fargo. Robert died in 1982.
In 1983, she married Marvin Ward. They lived in the FM area, and he died in 1987.
In addition to her husbands, Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Sheridan, Edward and John; and three sisters, Minnie Hanson, Margaret Hanson, and Sara Wendt.
Lillian was actively involved in music as a church organist, choir director and taught both organ and piano. She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, the Minnesota Music Teacher's Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers Association.
She is survived by four nieces and three nephews.
