Lisa Ruppert, age 62, of Kent, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, left us peacefully on February 9, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, after a short and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born on August 29, 1962, in Powers Lake, ND, to Douglas and Myrna (Running) Dihle, Lisa spent her formative years in Grand Island, Nebraska. She cherished her role as a mother, welcoming her first daughter, Christina, before moving to Crosby, ND, to live with her mother and stepfather Myrna and Duane Dihle. In time, she married Curt Krueger, and their family grew to include Shayla, born during a memorable home delivery that marked the beginning of many beautiful moments together. After her marriage to Curt, Lisa relocated to Mandan, ND, where she met her life partner, Ed Schweitzer. For 34 years, their love and companionship flourished, culminating in the joy of welcoming a son, Mitchell, and establishing their home in the Fargo-Moorhead area in 1992.
Lisa's enduring spirit was reflected in her kindness and compassion. Known for her non-judgmental nature, she had an extraordinary ability to make others feel valued and understood. Much of her joy came from being a grandma; she eagerly looked forward to her Tuesdays spent babysitting her beloved grandchildren. Her bright spirit was accompanied by a lighthearted love for daytime television, particularly crime dramas, as well as a fondness for catching up on tabloids and gossip magazines. With the nickname "Lisa Marie," she also held a special place in her heart for Elvis Presley, whose music added a touch of fun to her days.
Lisa’s legacy lives on through the love of her significant other of 33 years, Edward Schweitzer, her three devoted children: Christina (Brandon) Johnson of Fargo, ND; Shayla Hoffart of Fargo, ND; and Mitchell Schweitzer of Moorhead, MN. She adored her seven grandchildren: Caitlyn Lindsey, Ava Hoffart, Logan Hoffart, Easton Hoffart, Nala Hoffart, Silas Hoffart, and Aaron James-Wagner, and great grandson Lorenzo Smith, who brought endless joy to her life. Lisa is also survived by her brothers, Lance (Vicki) Ruppert of Sublette, IL, and Fane (Gwen) Ruppert of Corpus Christi, TX, along with nieces, nephews, relatives, and countless friends who were fortunate to know her.
Lisa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Douglas Ruppert, and Myrna and Duane Dihle. Though she has departed from this world, the love and memories she created will remain forever etched in the hearts of those she touched. In honoring her life, we celebrate a woman whose warmth and spirit will continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to know her.
