Lloyd Ellenson

Helmer Lloyd Ellenson, son of Carl and Ida (Vinje) Ellenson, was born August 27, 1923, near Gardner, ND. He graduated from Argusville (ND) High School in 1940, where he met classmate Claire Anne Lindstrom.

They were married on June 24, 1951, in Rothsay, MN. They lived in Perley, MN, until they built their home on the family farm near Gardner, ND, where they raised their three children.

Lloyd loved farming. For him, it was both a hobby and a way of life. He and Claire sang duets together from the time they were in high school. He also sang in the choir at Nora Lutheran church while Claire directed. Lloyd and Claire were wonderful dancers and often traveled to polka fests with their friends. They were married fifty-nine years until her death on December 19, 2010.

Lloyd died Wednesday, October 21, 2015, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, at ninety-two years of age.

Lloyd and Claire are survived by their children, Linda Ellenson Parmer, Fargo, ND, Sheila (Marlo) Davis, Crookston, MN, and Ron (Karen) Ellenson, Gardner; grandchildren, Ben (Leah) Parmer and Alyssa (Brett) Gilbertson, both Fargo, Shaina Davis (Carlos Pacheco), Gardner, Taylor (Jason) Brule, Fergus Falls, MN, and Bailey Ellenson, Gardner; and great-grandchildren, Brody and Nicolette Parmer, and Frances and Milo Gilbertson.

In addition to his wife, Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Shirley Brenden and Marlene Peterson; and his stepmother, Minnie Ellenson.

Visitation for Lloyd will be Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 7 - 9 PM, with a prayer service at 8 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

His funeral will be Monday, October 26, 2015, at 2 PM, in Nora Lutheran Church, rural Gardner.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
