Lloyd Holmes

Lloyd R. Holmes, 92, Dilworth, MN,  “He stopped loving her today – his favorite song”, on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Lloyd was born May 9, 1931 to Arthur and Bertha (Brandon) Holmes in Belview, MN.  Shortly after high school, Lloyd enlisted into the United States Air Force.  He spent time in England, Korea and on bases on both coasts.

On May 29, 1956, Lloyd married Gayle Moore in Bismarck, ND. Together they had five children, Tim, Rebecca, Steve, Patty and Kevin.

If Lloyd considered you a friend, it was a great privilege.  Lloyd was a kind and good friend to all, but a great friend to many.

Lloyd loved all animals and never met a dog he didn’t like.  He was known to never leave the house without a pocket full of treats.   The last 9 years he spent with Panzer, a 30 pound orange tabby cat, which Lloyd adored and said was the best company.

Lloyd is survived by his sons, Tim Holmes and Steve (Debra) Holmes; and his daughter, Patty (Robert) Matos; his cat, Panzer; and numerous people he called friends.

“He never needed no rocking chair.”
