Lois E. Seifert, 89, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, July 28, 2017, in Villa Maria, in Fargo, ND, where she had been a resident since 2014.
Lois Elaine Anderson, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Hofstad) Anderson, was born in Eagle Bend, MN, on April 4, 1928. She grew up and received her education in Eagle Bend, where she graduated from high school. She later attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN, and Minnesota State University Moorhead. She also lived in Pelican Rapids, MN.
On August 18, 1951, Lois was united in marriage to Walter L. Seifert, at Eagle Bend. They made their home in Moorhead, where Lois taught school at Park Elementary and George Washington Elementary schools, until she retired in 1987.
The family enjoyed time at their lake home on Lake Lizzie. Lois and Walter wintered in Apache Junction, AZ, for a number of years. Lois enjoyed reading and she had a wonderful sense of humor. She served on the board of Churches United for the Homeless and was active in her church. She truly served her Lord, her church and her family in a quiet, "behind the scenes" approach.
After her husband, Walter, died in 2004, Lois continued to live in Moorhead. In her later years she resided in Serenity Assisted Living, Dilworth, MN, prior to moving to Villa Maria.
Lois is survived by five children, Mark (Linda) Seifert, Noblesville, IN, John (Connie) Seifert, Stillwater, MN, Junell (John) Wertish, Pelican Rapids, Teryl (Mark) Clausen, Moorhead, and Paul (Iris) Seifert, Vergas, MN; eight grandchildren, Elisabeth Grady, Jessie Mertz, Matt Olson, and Adam, Joey, Laura, Michael and Scott Seifert; and great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Grady, Karsten Lavalle, Grace and Lillian Mertz, and Adler Seifert. In addition to Walter, Lois was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a brother.
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, or Churches United for the Homeless.
Visitation for Lois will be Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, from 11 AM until 1 PM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Her funeral service will follow at 1 PM, also in the church. Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead. Arrangements by Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead.
