Video Tribute
Lois Jean Shelley was born December 2, 1925, in Willmar, MN, to George and Irene (Hoard) Shelley. Lois grew up in Willmar where she graduated from high school.
After high school, Lois worked in a bakery where she met her future husband, Lloyd Bergeson. Lloyd often recalled "I met my Sweetie in a sweet shop." On April 10, 1948, Lois and Lloyd were joined in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Together they raised three children, Steve, Cindi and David, and they settled in Moorhead, MN, in 1965.
Lois was a homemaker and worked several years as a lunch server at South Junior High School. She was a Campfire leader and an active member of several groups, including The Grey Ladies, Quilters, Sewing Club, and Homemakers. Later in life, Lois took to volunteer work at several nursing homes in Moorhead, including Eventide Lutheran Home and Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND. Lois also taught Sunday school at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Lois loved to travel, covering all fifty states and over twenty countries abroad with Lloyd in their fifty-seven years of marriage. Lois and Lloyd would spend the winter months in Mesa, AZ, with their fellow "Snowbirds." Summers were spent at their cabin on Pelican Lake, MN, where Lois would garden, fish, play cards and go "garage saling." Her love of the lake was matched only by her love of family and friends. Those she touched will not forget her kind and thoughtful deeds. Lois entered eternal life Thursday, December 15, 2005, surrounded by her loving family, at her home in Moorhead.
Lois is survived by her devoted husband, Lloyd; a daughter, Cindi Brandon, Paragould, AR; two sons, Steven (Susan) Bergeson, Edina, MN, and David (Natalie) Bergeson, West Hollywood, CA; four grandchildren, Jason Bjorndahl, Andrea Bergeson Stoesz, Joshua J
