Lois Maxine Schuler, 82, West Fargo, ND, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND.
Lois Maxine (Simmons) Schuler was born December 22, 1930, near Ashbysburg, in McLean County, Kentucky, the daughter of Ora Mae (Brown) and Earl Simmons. She grew up and attended school in Evansville, IN. Lois graduated from Central High School, in Evansville, and later attended college in Indiana, New Mexico and North Dakota.
Lois served in the US Air Force, and worked as a bookkeeper and businesswoman, owned a nursery school in Albuquerque, NM, and a women's clothing store in Lidgerwood, ND.
She married Chris Schuler on December 29, 1969, at Rutland, ND, and the couple made their home near Cayuga, ND, before moving to Lidgerwood and later to West Fargo.
Lois was a committed Christian who loved her family, the outdoors, sports, and music, among many other interests. She volunteered in many ways throughout her life, including the Girl Scouts, in church and various ministry and missions activities. She was a 'people person' who loved giving of herself and made friends wherever she went.
Lois was an active member of many organizations, including the Gideons Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Bible Study Fellowship.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; one brother; and a great-grandson, Isaiah Kleinsasser.
She is survived by five children, Torey (Kim) Koppelman, West Fargo, Donna (Franky) Trovato, Omaha, NE, Robert (Peggy) Schuler, Payson, AZ, Julie (Peter) Heinicke, Glenwood, IA, and John Schuler, Farmersville, IL; eleven grandchildren, Benjamin (Julie) Koppelman, West Fargo, Rebekah (Matthew) Kleinsasser, Robbinsdale, MN, Paul (Marcy) Koppelman, Fargo, Jessie (Jennifer) Schuler, Cody Schuler, and Vanessa Schuler, all of Payson, AZ, Nathaniel Heinicke and Stephen Heinicke, both of Glenwood, IA, and Kristopher Schuler, Heidi Schuler, and RJ Schuler, all of Farmersville, IL; five great-grandchildren, Madison Koppelman and Reagan Koppelman, both of West Fargo, and Caleb Kleinsasser, Lydia Kleinsasser, and Elisabeth Kleinsasser, all of Robinsdale, MN; and many nieces and nephews in Evansville.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2013, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Her funeral will be Friday, August 2, 2013, at 10:30 AM, in Shiloh Evangelical Free Church, West Fargo.
Burial, with full military honors, will be Monday, August 5, 2013, at 12:30 PM, in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
