Loraine Idella Wahouske, the daughter of Alice and Edward Wahouske, was born in Detroit Lakes, MN, on March 4, 1922. As a young girl, she grew up and received her education in rural Detroit Lakes. She was united in marriage there to George Saarinen.
Following their marriage, Loraine and George lived near Detroit Lakes, MN, in Osage, MN, in Glyndon, MN, and Dilworth, MN. Loraine worked for Silverline Inc, Moorhead, MN, and at Plunketts Furniture, Moorhead.
Loraine's husband, George, died in 1986. Shortly after his death, Loraine moved to their lake home near Dent, MN. In 2007, Loraine returned to Moorhead to live with her daughter, and on March 4, 2008, she became a resident of Golden Living Center, Moorhead.
Loraine was a member of Dent (MN) Senior Citizens for 20 years, where she enjoyed playing cards and visiting. She also loved living at the lake and all her good friends, that she kept busy with. She found a great companion in Lester Barnack, with whom she enjoyed doing lots of road trips to see the sights.
Loraine died at Golden Living Center, Moorhead, on Friday, December 12, 2008, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; two sons, Jerome and Delwyn; a grandson; and a brother, Dale Wahouske.
She is survived by her daughter, Janelle (Tom) Conner, Moorhead; two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Saarinen, Dilworth and Sharon (Tim) Magnuson, Moorhead; a sister, Vernil Beto, Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Lori) Conner, Tammy Husarik, Theresa (Mike)
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at 11 AM in Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham, MN.
