Lorraine "Gwen" Selseth, 76, Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.
Lorraine Gwendolyn Solum, the daughter of Gerhard and Lottie (Restad) Solum, was born March 17, 1931, in Rollag, MN, where she grew up and received her education. Gwen graduated from high school in Barnesville, MN, and attended Moorhead State Teacher's College, where she received her teaching certificate.
On January 16, 1954, Gwen was united in marriage to Bernard "Pete" Selseth, at Hawley, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Moorhead, except for a short period of time, when they lived in Minneapolis, MN. Gwen owned and operated Sel's Ceramic Shop in Moorhead and worked for Clay County as an assessor. She was an active volunteer for the Sons of Norway and at the Hjemkomst Heritage Center. Her husband, Pete, died November 7, 1995. Following his death, Gwen continued to live in Moorhead.
Gwen was a loving mother and a mentor and blessing to all who knew her. She is survived by three children and two grandchildren, Mark (Sue) Selseth, Woodbury, MN, and their children Andrew and Rawley; Scott ( Marinela) Selseth, Dayton, MN, and Michele Selseth, South St. Paul, MN; a brother, Allan (Pat) Solum, Paynesville, MN; stepsister, Helen (Merlen) Erickson, Moorhead; sister-in-law, Donna Solum, Hawley, MN; aunt, Ellen Anderson, Fargo; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Robert.
The family wishes to thank Innovis Health for their fine care, and aunt, Ellen Anderson, and niece, Linda Roesler, for their loving assistance.
Visitation: Monday, 4 PM until 8 PM, with prayer service at 7 PM
