Lorraine J. Jacobson

Lorraine J. Jacobson, age 87, Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Fargo, ND, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, in Valley Memorial Homes, Grand Forks.
Lorraine Janet Opsahl, the daughter of Lewis and Mabel (Evenson) Opsahl, was born Jan. 29, 1924, in rural Syre, MN, where she grew up. She graduated from Twin Valley (MN) High School in 1942. On Jan. 5, 1945, she married Jewitt Jacobson, in Detroit Lakes, MN. They lived in Detroit Lakes, from 1948 until 1965. Lorraine worked as a waitress and later as a clerk in city hall.
In 1965, they moved to Wahpeton, ND. In Wahpeton, Lorraine worked as a teller in First National Bank. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, and enjoyed embroidery and quilting, especially with the church quilting group.
In 1985, the couple moved to Fargo. Her husband, Jewitt, died in 1988. After his death, Lorraine continued to live in Fargo, where she was an active volunteer at Dakota Hospital. In January of 2008, Lorraine moved to Grand Forks and became a resident of Valley Memorial Homes.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jan (Michael) Benson, Fargo, and LeAnn Larson, Grand Forks; a brother, Eldred (Norma) Opsahl, Twin Valley, MN; six grandchildren, Chad (Andrea) Moses, Alicia (Mike) Moreland, Tobie Cornejo and her husband, Sam Coffin, Christopher (Melanie) Cornejo, Elizabeth Cornejo, and Cory Moses; eight great-grandchildren, Shaylee and Ali Moses, Aiden and Chase Moreland, Ella and John Coffin, Oliver Cornejo, and Kelsey Moses; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Jewitt, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; and by two sisters, Evelyn Albertson and Mildred Sagen.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral
Funeral service: Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at 11 AM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead
