Lorraine Kemmer

Lorraine Mary Kemmer, 90, Dilworth, MN, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at Eventide Senior Living, Moorhead, MN.

Lorraine was born April 4, 1933, in Sauk Centre, MN, to Lawrence and Regina (Bieringer) Schieffer and attended school in Browerville, MN.  Lorraine married Alton Kemmer February 9, 1952, at Browerville.  They lived in Moorhead, MN, for a time.  She then became a farmers wife, at Fergus Falls, MN.

Having six children, Alton and Lorraine sold the farm in 1964.  They lived in the town of Fergus Falls for a year and then moved to Dilworth the following year.  Lorraine worked for Silverline Boats in the upholstery department until deciding to be a stay-at-home mom.  She sewed for her family and friends and did a lot of crafts and ceramics for people and shows.

Lorraine and Alton were married for sixty-two years until his passing in 2014.  She continued to make her home in Dilworth until entering Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Peggy (Dr. Thom) Horowitz, Los Angeles, CA, Pat (Cheryl) Kemmer, Dent, MN, Leland “Babe” (Patricia) Kemmer, Fargo, ND, James (Beth) Kemmer, Fargo, and Debbie (Dale) Kemmer, West Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Jill Kemmer, Moorhead; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; and sisters, Marge (John) Duncan, Bluffton, MN, and Marilyn (Richard) Trout, Wadena, MN.

In addition to her husband, Alton, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Kemmer; granddaughter, Amanda Kemmer; brothers, Ed Schieffer, and Roger Schieffer; sister, Alvina Erickson; sisters-in-law, Lila Horhmann, and Louise McGlothlin; and an infant great-grandson.

Visitation for Lorraine will begin at 10 AM, with a Memorial Service at 11 AM, Friday, October 13, 2023, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.  Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
