Lorraine M. Barry

Lorraine Marie Mulcahy was born April 5, 1926, in Barnesville, MN, to Edward and Dora (Nicklay) Mulcahy. She was raised in Barnesville where she graduated from high school in 1943. Lorraine worked at the bank in Barnesville for a time.

Lorraine married Glenn Barry on November 5, 1947, in Barnesville, and they farmed near Barnesville until moving to Moorhead, MN, in 1956. Lorraine loved caring for children and babysat many children in her home, until the age of 75.

Glenn died April 29, 2001, and she continued to make her home in Moorhead. Lorraine died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, in Serenity Assisted Living, Dilworth, MN, at ninety-two years of age.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Brian (Loree) Barry, Northglenn, CO, Maureen (Brad) Newton, Moorhead, Kathleen (Brett) Shasky, Moorhead, and Michael Barry, Fargo; eight grandchildren, Branden, Britnee, Ashley, Nicole, Sarah, Jessica, Alisha, and Jacob; four great-grandchildren, Keegan, Olivia, Oliver, and Vivienne; and siblings, Everett (Arlene) Mulcahy, Detroit Lakes, MN, Agnes (Virgil) Barta, Dilworth, Wallace (Carol) Mulcahy, Barnesville, Dorothy (Curt) Cook, Dilworth, and Eddie (Marlys) Mulcahy, Barnesville.

In addition to her husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice and Margie; and a brother, Donald.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Serenity Assisted Living for their care and compassion shown to Lorraine and her family throughout the last year, and to Hospice of the Red River Valley for ensuring Lorraine's comfort in her last week of life.

Visitation will be Monday, April 23, 2018, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
