Lozier Earl Bonawitz, known as Bonnie, was born August 29, 1925, to Raymond and Agnes (Nelson) Bonawitz in Greenbush, MN. The family moved when he was an infant to the Fargo-Moorhead area where he grew up and received his education.
During WWII, he served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in the South Pacific. After his discharge he returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area. On March 27, 1948, Lozier was married to Grace Bradley in Fargo.
Lozier was a partner in Woodard and Bonawitz, Moorhead, where he did painting and decorating. In 1957 he started his own business, Bonawitz Furniture Refinishing, which he sold to his son in 1975. He remained active in the business as well as buying and selling antique furniture and antique furniture repair until Nov. of 2002. Lozier died Friday, December 19, 2003, at VA Medical Center, Fargo, at seventy-eight years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, Moorhead; a son, Dale, Moorhead; a brother, Harold (Joyce), Moorhead; a sister, Betty (Wallace) Grund, Fargo; two grandchildren, Jessica Erickson and Stephanie Bonawitz; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Adam, and Ingrid. His parents, three sisters, Darlene, Ruth, and Marie; and three brothers, Alvin, Lester, and Raynold preceded him in death.
