Lucille Ann Hurt was born January 24, 1919, to Frank and Josephine (Cink) Hurt in Stirum, ND. She was raised in the Crete, ND, area where she attended rural school. She graduated from Crete High School.
Lucille was married to Edward Hofsommer on October 30, 1938, in Sisseton, SD, and they made their home in the Crete and Oakes, ND, area. They moved to Fargo, ND, in 1949, and Lucille worked for many years at S.S. Kresge, Fargo. Edward and Lucille purchased Fargo Excavating in 1957 and they worked side by side until he retired in 1981.
Edward died November 8, 1989, and Lucille continued to make her home in Fargo. She recently moved to Moorhead to live with her daughter and family. Lucille died at their home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at ninety-two years of age.
Family was very important to Lucille and she cherished the time they could spend together. She loved to cook and share meals together. Lucille also enjoyed embroidery.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ward) Kuehl, Moorhead; a son, Gary (Jean) Hofsommer, Beaverton, OR; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Reger; one sister, Adeline Baker; and two brothers, Ray and Ed Hurt.
Visitation for Lucille will be Tuesday, February 8, 2011, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at 11 AM, in Hope Lutheran Church, North Campus, Fargo.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
