Luella M. Jordahl, 90, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Luella Marie Gustavson was born on January 1, 1917, to John and Oline (Fureby) Gustavson, eight miles east of Barnesville, MN. She grew up on farms near Rollag, MN.
Luella attended a one-room schoolhouse in Minnesota District 77. Her mother died in 1929 and Luella became a caregiver for her young sisters. At age 18, she moved to Fargo, and began working as a housekeeper. On September 17, 1942 she married Sidney H. Jordahl in Moorhead, MN. Sidney went overseas with the U.S. Army in 1942. In 1943 Luella, her father, and sisters moved to Seattle, WA. Luella worked for Boeing Aircraft for two years. Sidney was discharged in 1945 and together they returned to make their home in Fargo. In October 1946, they had a son, Lowell.
In 1956, Luella started working at St. Johns Hospital in Fargo. She retired in 1982 after twenty-six years of service. After her husband Sidney passed away in 1988, she spent winters in Seattle with her sisters and summers on the family farm near Barnesville.
Luella loved coffee, cookies, cooking, and throwing dinner parties for her friends and family. She enjoyed Pontoppidan Church "circles" and quilting. She attended the very first Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag in 1953, and went annuall
Luella was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Gladys, Amy, and Clara, all of Seattle, and her husband Sidney. Luella is survived by her sisters, Shiela Pinney of Eagle Bend, MN, and Betty Elsemore of Maple Valley, WA. She is also survived b
Visitation for Luella will be Monday, July 2, 2007, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at 11 AM, in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Burial will follow, at 2:30 PM, in Aspelund Lutheran Church Cemetery, on Hwy 32, south of Rollag.
