Lyla Deibert Jesser died peacefully on October 11, 2020, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN, at the age of 88.
Lyla Charlotte Deibert was born August 5, 1932, in Herreid, SD. Following her graduation from high school, Lyla attended nursing school in Bismarck, ND, and was subsequently certified as a Registered Nurse. Lyla then worked at the Bismarck Hospital where she met Delton Jesser. Lyla and Del (then a pharmacy student at NDSU) were married in 1953. Following Delton's graduation, the couple lived in Lisbon, ND, then Detroit Lakes, MN, before settling in Moorhead in 1962.
Lyla is fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose deep faith, good humor, gentle spirit, and humility touched all who knew her. She enjoyed music, frequently humming songs to herself as she went about her activities. Lyla and Del were blessed to be able to spend time vacationing in Hawaii and spent many summers at Lake Lida.
Lyla and Del were longtime members of Calvary Baptist Church, now Calvary Church at Village Green. Lyla joyfully served in many capacities and in many areas of the church over the long span of their membership there. Lyla will be much missed here on earth, for now she stands in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Lyla is survived by her children, Keith, Greg, Mark, and Kevin; daughters-in-law, Debby, Terri, Darla, and Jodi; grandchildren, Matthew, Anna (Lindstrom), Scott, Ben, Aaron, and Leah; great-grandchildren, Keagan, Parker, Cole, Lily, Carter, and Desmond; and siblings, Jerome Deibert and Maxine Knittel. She was preceded in death by parents, Konrad and Ella (Orth) Deibert; husband, Delton Jesser; and by siblings, Arlene Walls and Leslie Deibert.
Visitation for Lyla will be Saturday, October 17, 2020, from 1 PM until 2 PM, in Calvary Church at Village Green, Moorhead, followed by her funeral service at 2 PM. She will be buried at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
