Lyle David Peterson was born June 30, 1937, in Ada, MN, to Henry Peterson and Sophie (Benesh) Peterson. He attended school in Hendrum, MN and lived on the family farm. Following his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and later received an honorable discharge.
On April 23, 1960, he married Alice Loe of Perley, MN, at Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, and they made their home in Hendrum.
Lyle worked as a painter for 18 years at Grandin Manufacturing, Grandin, ND. Lyle also worked for American Crystal Sugar, Duane Smart and for Norman County, blading roads and plowing snow until his retirement in 1999. Lyle and Alice also owned and operated Hendrum Hartz Grocery Store in the mid-1970s.
Lyle enjoyed visiting and drinking coffee with his friends every morning. He also enjoyed spending weekends during the summer at Tulaby Lake and spending time with his family.
Lyle Peterson died in the Palliative Care Unit of Sanford Hospital on May 20, 2011, at the age of seventy-three.
He is survived by a daughter, Tara (Steve) Johnk, Moorhead; granddaughters, Ashley (Casey) Nowacki, Fargo, and Kendall Johnk, Saint Paul; 2 brothers, Edgar (Leona) and Robert (Sandi); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Alice; parents, Henry and Sophie; brothers, James, Gerald and twin brother, Larry; and sisters, Margie, Helen, and Arlene.
Visitation: Sunday from 5 - 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11 AM, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN.
