Lyle W. Ingvalson, 79, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Crookston, MN, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015, in Elim Rehab and Care Center, Fargo.
Lyle Wayne Ingvalson was born October 3, 1935, the son of Joseph and Ella (Bloom) Ingvalson, in Crookston. In 1958, he was drafted into the U.S Army, serving in the 1st Battalion 26th Infantry "The Big Red One", while stationed in Germany until 1960. On October 29, 1966, he was united in marriage to Joyce Berg Crowely in Crookston. Lyle worked for many farmers, but remained working for Francis Deboer for forty years. After retiring from farming, he worked for Polk County with his son, Bob.
During his younger years, Lyle and his sister, Betty, raised and showed horses. Lyle enjoyed many things including fishing, camping and working on cars. He was also an avid reader and could read a Louis L'Amour book in the evening before bed.
Lyle wasn't afraid of trying new things. It was in his 60's that he tried pure stock car racing for the first time. When he was 62, he showed off his skiing skills by hooking up the "old skis" to the back of his pickup truck and having his son and grandson pull him through the ditches.
Most importantly, Lyle loved being around family. If he wasn't close enough he would move closer.
Lyle is survived by his five children, Joe (Robyn) Ingvalson, DeAnn Johnson, Bob (Nicky) Ingvalson, David (Monica) Crowely, and Kitty (Curt) Fultz; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Thompson; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 38 years, Joyce; sister, Evelyn Baatz; and brother, Julius Ingvalson.
A Visitation for Lyle will be Friday two hours prior to the service.
His Funeral Service will be Friday, October 9, 2015, at 1 PM in St. Petri Lutheran Church, Nielsville, MN.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Beltrami, MN.
