Lyle "Pinky" Rath died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, in the Minnesota State Veteran's Home in Fergus Falls, MN, at the age of 83.
Lyle Dean Rath, the son of William and Isabell Rath, was born in Jamestown, ND on July 11, 1926.
During WW II, Lyle served his country in the US Army, serving overseas in the Pacific. He received a "purple heart" for a wound received in combat.
After discharge, he married Alicemary Marchand in Moorhead, on June 30, 1948. Pinky worked for the Northern Pacific Railway for 42 years, ending his career as an engineer for the renamed Burlington Northern in 1986.
In retirement, he especially enjoyed spending time at this lake home on Star Lake, where he kept exact records of his fishing results. In August of 2007, Pinky became a resident of the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Fergus Falls.
Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Alicemary, who died in November of 1986; his parents; a sister, Dorothy; granddaughter, Jodi Anderson; great-grandson, Zander Anderson; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Rath. He is survived by his three children, Darry
