M. Kent Holmberg, 93, Hillsboro, ND, formerly of Moorhead, MN, and Detroit Lakes, MN,died Monday, May 17, 2010.
M. Kent Holmberg was born August 31, 1916, in rural Buxton, ND, to Oscar and Alma (Johnson) Holmberg. He graduated from Hillsboro High School. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1946.
On April 25, 1948, Kent married Loraine Flagstad in Fargo, ND. They made their home in Moorhead and Kent farmed in the Kragness, MN, and Georgetown, MN, area for many years. He then began working for the US Post Office as a letter carrier. Kent retired from the Post Office in 1988 after twenty-years of service. Kent and Loraine then moved to rural Detroit Lakes and in 2003 they moved to Fargo.
Loraine died on June 30, 2007 and Kent continued to make his home in Fargo until moving to Hillsboro in 2008.
Kent is survived by two sons, Kent (Cheryl) Holmberg, Hillsboro, and Bruce (Sandi) Holmberg, Detroit Lakes; two grandsons, Scott (Kimberly) Holmberg, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Brian Holmberg, Roseville, MN; four great-grandchildren, Erin, Adam, Nate and Kira Holmberg; and a sister,
Vivienne Tellinghusen, Grand Junction, CO.
