Mabel I. Becker, age 92, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, December 15, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Mabel Irene Johnson, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Franson) Johnson, was born May 1, 1912, in Fargo. She grew up and received her education in Fargo. As a young lady, she attended beauty school in Fargo and worked for five years as a beautician.
On September 3, 1931, Mabel was married to August Becker in Moorhead. They made their home in Fargo. In 1940, they moved to Moorhead where they had lived since. Mabel enjoyed gardening and was an active volunteer at the Fargo VA hospital as a "grey lady".
Her husband, August, died on April 16, 1985. After his death, Mabel continued to live in Moorhead. In 1998, Mabel became a resident of Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo. In 1999, she became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Beverly J. Christianson, Moorhead; her son, Robert E. (Mary Jo) Becker, Moorhead; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Florence Moss.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral at Eventide.
Funeral service: Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at 2:30 PM
