Mabel Leonore Pederson was born August 15, 1911, in Audubon, MN, to Christian and Bergitta (Nilson) Pederson. Mabel was raised in Audubon where she graduated from high school in 1930. Mabel received a business degree from Minneapolis (MN) Business College.
Mabel married Elmer C. Peterson on November 6, 1938, in Audubon. They lived for a time in Port Angeles, WA where Elmer worked in the shipyards as a welder. They moved to Buxton, ND, in 1945, where they picked potatoes for a living, and later to Moorhead, MN. Mabel worked as a housekeeper in the area until eighty-two years of age.
Elmer died September 4, 1987, and Mabel continued to make her home in Moorhead. She died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, at ninety-seven years of age.
She is survived by her daughter, Marion (Robert) McCrory, Glenwood, MN; her son, Curtis (Linda) Peterson, Garden Grove, CA; five grandchildren, Karla (Ray) Gavin, Kevin (Rhonda) McCrory, Allan (Lisa) Peterson, David Peterson and Sheryl (Eric) Baum; eight great-grandchildren, Megan and Colin Gavin, Shai and Ashlyn McCrory, Makayla and Makenzie Reutter, Michael Peterson and Logan Baum; two sisters, Solveig Bodin, Moorhead, and Doris Fisher, Auburn, WA; and a sister-in-law, Vera Pederson, Lake Park, MN.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Mabel was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Eventide Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She was a member of Concordia C-400 and volunteered countless hours with RSVP.
Visitation for Mabel will be Friday, July 10, 2009, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 10 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
