Born August 16, in 1918, Madelyn was daughter to John and Nellie Hesby,
who raised her on their farm just north of Halstad, MN. An exceptional
student, she finished high school early, skipping a grade along the way.
Madelyn married Erwin Warner on January 18, 1939, in Sisseton, SD, and was
not separated from him until his death in 2001 after sixty-two years of
marriage.
Madelyn and Erwin made their home in Minnesota, living in a house that
Madelyn designed and Erwin built in Halstad. They farmed to make a life,
raised three children to make a future, and contributed to their community
in countless ways. In her private life Madelyn was a voracious reader, an
avid crossworder, and a meticulous homemaker. She knitted sweaters and
lent her hands to teaching her grandchildren how to crochet.
Madelyn died
gently in her home, just after sunrise on the morning of Tuesday,
September 27, 2005, at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by two sons, Cactus (Kathy) Warner, Mesquite, NV, and
Scott Warner, Halstad, MN; eight grandchildren, John Melting, Halstad,
