Malcolm Junius Askegaard was born May 26, 1917, on the family farm near Comstock, MN, to John V. and Minnie (Hendrickson) Askegaard. Malcolm graduated from Comstock High School in 1934 and continued to farm with his family.
Malcolm entered the US Army Air Forces in January of 1942 and served in the South Pacific. After his discharge in October of 1945, he returned to the Comstock area. Malcolm owned and operated A & B Motors in Barnesville, MN, from 1952 until 1956, while continuing to farm near Comstock. Malcolm was united in marriage to Rolaine Lemke, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN, on March 24, 1956, and they made their home on the farm near Comstock.
Malcolm died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in Innovis Health, Fargo, ND, at eighty-six years of age.
Malcolm is survived by his wife, Rolaine, Comstock; a daughter, Marianne (John) Wygant, White Bear Lake, MN; a son, Mark (Barb) Askegaard, Fargo; three granddaughters, Melissa Wygant, and Claire and Beth Askegaard; and one sister, Irene (Hugh) Everett, Apple Valley, CA. Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Grace Mohn, Ethel Shellito, and Ruth Berg; and one brother, Harry Askegaard.
Visitation for Malcolm will be Friday, April 9, 2004, from 3 - 5 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
His funeral will be Saturday, April 10, 2004, at 2 PM in Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock. Burial, with military honors, will be in Hoff Lutheran Cemetery, rural Comstock.
