Marcella E. Brinley, 89, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, February 10, 2012, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Marcella Esther Tweten was born April 16, 1922, to Obert and Beatrice Pearl (Thompson) Tweten, on the family farmstead in rural Glyndon, MN. Marcella graduated from Glyndon High School and received her teaching certificate from the Moorhead Normal School.

On April 5, 1942, Marcella married Cecil Brinley in rural Glyndon. Marcella taught at a rural country school and farmed with her husband in Clay county. The family eventually moved to Moorhead where they made their home for 50 years. Marcella and Cecil also owned and operated the Baywood Resort in Detroit Lakes, MN.

On March 15, 2001, Cecil died. Marcella eventually became a resident of the Fairmont in Moorhead.

Marcella was a devoted mother and cared for other children which included over 100 foster children. She was an active member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and Camp Fire Girls. Volunteering for the community was an important part of Marcella's life.

Marcella is survived by her 5 children, Darold (Marsha Jo) Brinley, Devine, TX, Marcia (Jon) Kenyon, West Fargo, ND, Naomi (Gary) Lee, Bowling Green, OH, Obert Brinley, Las Vegas, NV, and Roberta (Rick) Anderson, Lake Havasu City, AZ; 2 sisters, Deloris (
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers, Weslie and Howard.

Visitation: Sunday from 6 - 8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Monday, February 13, 2012, at 11 AM, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon.
