Margaret Thomas

Margaret Weik was born June 16, 1920, to Wilhelm and Alma (Halbakken) Weik, on the family farm in Trondhjem Township in Ottertail County, near Rothsay, MN. She was raised in that area where she received her education.
Margaret was united in marriage to Richard E. Thomas, on April 5, 1941, at Rothsay, and they made their home on a farm in the area. From this union there were two sons, Wesley and Merlin. The family later lived in Lake Park, MN, as well as New Mexico.
Following Richard's death on July 31, 1968, Margaret returned to make her home in Moorhead, MN. She worked at Americana Nursing Home, Fargo, ND, as well as Concordia College, Moorhead.
Margaret died peacefully at Bethany Retirement Living, in the presence of her family, on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at eighty-nine years of age. Margaret loved to cook and bake, especially Norwegian delicacies.
Margaret is survived by her two sons, Wesley (Audrey) Thomas, Ada, MN, and Merlin (Mary Kay) Thomas, Cambridge, MN; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Weik, Wahpeton, ND, and Walter (Audrey) Weik, Seattle, WA; five sisters, Ardis Hovland, Pelican Rapids, MN, Doris (Edward) Jorgenson and Dorothy (Elroy) Jorgenson, both Rothsay, Marcella (Earl) Johnson, Fargo, and Phyllis (Dennis) Van Wechel, Wolverton, MN; a sister-in-law, Effie Weik, Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by a brother, George Weik; sister-in-law, Arlene Weik; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Hovland.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2009, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Thursday, September 3, 2009, at 10:30 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will be in Hamar Cemetery, Rothsay.
