Marie Hummel, age 93, Moorhead, MN, formerly of St. Paul, MN, died Saturday in a Fargo, ND, hospital.
Marie Elizabeth McDougal, the daughter of Charles and Magdalena (Lahr) McDougal was born on June 12, 1915, in St. Paul. She grew up and received her education in St. Paul, where she graduated from Central High School.
On November 11, 1946, Marie was married to Edward Hummel in St. Paul. They made their home in St. Paul, and Marie worked for a time, at a local shoe store. Her husband, Edward died in 1994. In 2007, she moved to Moorhead, to live with her daughter, Judy. Marie enjoyed caring for her home and family. She always kept a beautiful yard and enjoyed working outside.
Marie is survived by two daughters, Judy Svir, Moorhead, and Nancy (Joe) O'Brien, West Frankfort, IL; 5 grandchildren, Marie (Carl) Thress, Holly Svir, Joe Svir, Maggie (Charlie) Dawson and Kalie O'Brien; and 1 great-grandson, Peter Thress. In addition to her husband, Marie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Willard and Roger McDougal.
Funeral Mass: Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at 10:30 AM, Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, 2119 Stillwater Avenue, St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral.
Burial: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
