Marilyn Knickerbocker

March 4, 1935 — January 12, 2020

Marilyn Ruth Parks Knickerbocker, 84, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2020, after a long illness. She passed away peacefully at Villa Maria in Fargo, ND.

Ruth was born March 4, 1935, in Taylor, NY, to Leon and Stella (Eaton) Parks. She grew up on a dairy farm, graduated from Cincinnatus Central School, Cincinnatus, NY, and attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.

Ruth married Donald Knickerbocker on November 14, 1953. They were married for 63 years, until Don's death in 2016. Ruth was very kind and loving, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be missed.

Music was an important part of Ruth's life. She was a music teacher and taught piano lessons throughout her career. In addition, she directed choirs, sang with a beautiful soprano voice in choirs, and played the organ and piano for many churches. She also loved gardening and spent many hours creating beautiful flower gardens and enjoying nature around her.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Holly (Mark) Jensen; sons, Bryan (Lori) Knickerbocker, and Larry Knickerbocker (Linda Clark); her grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Jensen, Kevin Knickerbocker (Sarah Ashley), Courtney Knickerbocker (Alex Gouch), Trevor Knickerbocker, Andrew Knickerbocker, and Tom Knickerbocker. She is also survived by her sister, Peg (George) Ebel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Knickerbocker; parents, Leon and Stella Parks; sister, Muriel Newcomb; brother, Ralph Parks; and nephew, Robert Newcomb.

Visitation will begin at 1 PM, with a Memorial Service at 2 PM, Friday, January 24, 2020, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
