Marilyn L. Harrison departed for her eternal reward on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the age of 77, from cancer, under the care of the Sanford Palliative Care Unit. Her Christian faith and devotion gave her great courage as she faced her health challenges with strength, courage, sense of humor and an incredibly positive attitude.

Marilyn Louise Hockett was born January 25, 1934, in San Jose, CA. At the age of seven, she moved to Oregon City, OR, and graduated from Oregon City High School. She attended Warner Pacific College, where she met her husband, Clifford E. Harrison. They were married June 14, 1952, and resided in Portland, OR, until they were transferred by Cliff's company, Nabisco, to Fairlawn, NJ, in 1962. After 2½ years in Oshkosh, WI, with the University of Wisconsin, they moved to Moorhead in 1986.

Marilyn was an energetic, devoted and loving mother, spending most of her years as a wife, mother and homemaker, with raising her three children as her highest priority. Following eleven years as manager of a dental office in New Jersey, she volunteered 21 years for Hospice of the Red River Valley, and served as a deaconess, Sunday School teacher and AWANA worker in Bethel Church. She also served in the Gideons International Auxiliary for 34 years.

She was caring and hospitable, loved to cook, host, and entertain friends. She will be missed by friends and family all over the country. She loved to travel with family, and explored most of the United States, as well as trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, Mexico, and Canada.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dr. Clifford Harrison, Moorhead; three children, Bradley (Janet) Harrison, Syracuse, NY, Pamela (Richard) Adams, Oak Ridge, NJ, and Gregory (Elona) Harrison, Ann Arbor, MI; and four grandchildren, David Harrison, Amy Harrison, Melissa Adams, and Timothy Adams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ethel Hockett, and her brother, Norman, who was killed while serving in the US Air Force.

Memorial service: Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 11 AM, in Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo, ND.

Arrangements by: Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead.
