Marilyn Y. Gilbert, 69, of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, December 4, 2015, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
Marilyn Yvonne Gilbert was born September 23, 1946, the daughter of James S. and Joyce (Douglas) Geros in Moorhead, MN. She was raised in Dilworth, MN, and graduated from Detroit Lakes (MN) Community High School in 1965. She made her home in Dilworth until moving to Moorhead in 1986. In 1981, she attended Moorhead Technical College for multi-occupational training.
Over the years, Marilyn worked as a housekeeper at the Silver Spike and Kelly Inn and also at Bonanza Restaurant. For a number of years she attended the Day on the Hill in St. Paul, MN, with the Clay County Adult Mental Health Advisory Council. She was very proud to advocate for mental health rights.
Marilyn enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching crime dramas, all kinds of candy, and going for walks. She was a very loving person and loved her family unconditionally.
She is survived by her son, Jonathon Gilbert, Moorhead; sisters, Cassandra Braseth and Charlene Gilbert, both, Moohread; brother-in-law, Clayton "Babe" Teigen, Moorhead; half-siblings, James Geros, JoAnne (Harold) Stump, Patricia (Raymond) Baughman, and Mary Geros, all Washington, and Michael Geros, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Charles Gilbert; and sisters, Cheryl Jorgenson, and Joanne Teigen.
A Visitation for Marilyn will be one hour prior to her funeral service.
Her Memorial Service will be Monday, December 7, 2015, at 2:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
