Marjorie C. Lokken, 90, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Marjorie Constance Simley, the daughter of George and Hazel (Johnson) Simley, was born in Mayville, ND, on December 26, 1917. The family moved to Fargo, where Marjorie grew up and graduated from Fargo Central High School.
On August 14, 1941, Marjorie married Herbert S. Lokken in Moorhead, MN. While Herbert was in the service during WW II, Marjorie moved to California and worked at Hughes Aircraft.
After Herbert's discharge for the Army, the couple made their home in Moorhead, where they had lived since. Marjorie worked for the City of Moorhead as a secretary in the building and codes department. She was very active in the VFW Auxiliary, where she was a past president of both the local auxiliary as well as the district.
Herbert died on Feb. 23, 1996. After his death, Marjorie continued to live in Moorhead.
Survivors: son, John, Moorhead; and three sisters, Pauline (Galen) Bottemiller, Brainerd, MN, Karen (Ray) Johnson, Moorhead, and Anne Jesten (Howard Jacobson), Sun City, AZ. In addition to her husband, Herbert, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Jesten; and two sisters, Helen Hinkle and Joan Miller.
Memorial service: Tuesday, at 10:30 AM, Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
