Marjorie L. Linhart was born, the last of nine children, on August 9, 1938, in the rural Sykeston, ND, area. She grew up on her parents' farm and received both primary and secondary schooling in Sykeston. After high school graduation in 1956, Marjorie moved to Fargo, ND, and received certification from Interstate Business College. Marjorie worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Fargo as a proofreader for five years.
Marjorie met Dennis Heley through a mutual acquaintance and they married on September 12, 1960. Making their home in Moorhead, MN, Marjorie and Dennis had four children. Marjorie managed the household and actively supported her children's numerous sports, theatrical, musical and artistic endeavors. Her modest, unselfish and gentle nature allowed the lights of others around her to shine more brightly.
Marjorie enjoyed sewing, bareback and standing bareback horse riding, flower gardening, reading and traveling with Dennis. She volunteered for the St. Francis de Sales School Library and was a member of the Christian Mothers, the St. Francis de Sales Environment Committee and the Parish Circle. Marjorie died on May 17, 2012, in Fargo, after struggling with cancer.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Dennis Heley; three daughters, Sharon Heley, Ruth (Jeff Ficek) Heley and Sue Hapala; a son, Frank (Sheri Colter) Heley; grandchildren, Amber (Ross) Lockhart, Lucy Hapala, Leo Hapala, and Marek Ficek; great-grandchild, Stella Lockhart; sisters, Rosella Richter and Marie Haster; brothers Francis (Margaret) Linhart and Eugene (Carolyn) Linhart and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Linhart; and her brothers, William (Margaret) Linhart, Louis Linhart, Clarence Linhart and Leo Linhart.
Visitation: Sunday, 5-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM , Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral Mass: Monday, May 21, 2012, at 11 AM, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (605 15th Avenue N, Moorhead).
