Margie was born April 22, 1930, in Sherwood, ND to Mike and Bertha (Cassidy) Zurkan. She graduated from Sherwood High School and Fargo (ND) Business College.
Margie started her banking career at First National Bank, Fargo, (also known as Norwest Bank and Wells Fargo Bank) in1949 and retired after 38 years of service. She started working as the assistant messenger, which was the lowest job level in the bank. Over the years she held various positions and ended her career as a vice president of the bank.
Margie thoroughly enjoyed her work at the bank and made many faithful and lasting friends with the employees and customers. Her favorite customer was a young man from Super Value Inc. named Ben Klug. He became the love of her life and they were married on September 12, 1958, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead. They were married 44 years when Ben passed away October 15, 2003, taking part of her heart with him.
Margie was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and on the board of the Fargo Moorhead Emergency Food Pantry, which she enjoyed working at.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, BenVern; brother, Russell Zurkan; and sister, Marline "Molly" Zurkan. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Alma Zurkan; and many nieces and nephews.
Margie's memorial service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 11 AM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sabin, MN, following the service. If you are unable to attend, Margie's service will be livestreamed at
