Marjorie M. Moore, age 78, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at MeritCare Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.
Marjorie Madonna Herding was born Sept. 4, 1929 in Greendale Township, rural Hankinson, ND, on the family farm, to Ben and Catherine (Bommersbach) Herding. She grew up on the family farm and attended Greendale Township School # 1. She attended St. Francis Academy in Hankinson, and graduated in 1947.
After graduation, Marjorie moved to Chicago, IL, where she worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, as a long distance operator. She returned to Wahpeton, ND, in 1949, and worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was united in marriage to Clarence "Badger" Moore on Feb. 20, 1950, at St. Phillips Church in Hankinson, where she had been baptized, made her first communion, and was confirmed. She continued to work for "Ma Bell" until 1963, when she started to work at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN.
In 1965, they moved to Moorhead, and Marjorie was employed at Dakota Hospital, St. Ansgar Hospital, until it closed, and St. John's Hospital in Fargo, ND, while raising her 7 wonderful children. Later she was employed at River's Edge, Dakota Boy's Ranch and Prairie Dawn Counseling in Fargo. She became semi-retired in 1997, to care for Badger, and fully retired in 2000.
Marjorie was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, being involved in RE, Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers, and Faith Formation.
Marjorie is survived by 3 daughters: Kathy Spaeth, Detroit Lakes, MN, Mary Kmoch, Geneseo, IL, and Terry (Steve) Calton, Puyallup, WA; 4 sons, Tom (Gwen), Moorhead, Tim (and friend, Nancy Bergeson), Horace, ND, Joe (Laurie), Moorhead, and Mike (Linda), Gr
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Badger, who died in 2000; her parents; and a brother, Paul.
Visitation: Monday, October 8, 2007, from 5 PM til 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at 10:30 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
