Marlys Jean Koeppe was born June 24, 1928, to Fredrick and Nilda (Wrolstad) Koeppe, on the family farm in Minnesota Township, rural Claire City, SD.
Marlys graduated from New Effington HS, in 1945, and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, graduating in 1946. She worked for J.I. Case Co., Fargo, ND until 1950. On July 24, 1949, she married Marvin Weispfenning at Claire City. They lived their entire married life in Moorhead, MN. Together they raised 5 children. Marlys Jean Weispfenning, died Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead, at seventy-eight years of age.
Marlys was a homemaker and skilled seamstress, enjoyed crafts and enthusiastically shared her creations with family and friends. Her life revolved around her family and her church. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and gift of conversation.
Marlys is survived by her loving husband Marvin, Moorhead; five children, Kathryn (Rev. David) Winterfeldt, Dimock, SD; James (Ruth) Weispfenning, Rochester, MN; Gerald Weispfenning, St. Paul, MN; Ronald (Peggy) Weispfenning, Hutchinson, MN; Jeffrey (Sarah Brunsvold) Weispfenning, Minneapolis, MN; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Chad (Beth) Winterfeldt & children Quentin, Eleanor & Cecily; Michael Weispfenning; Tressa (Joshua) Wiltsie; John, Alissa, Amy, Eric, Noel, Kurt, Ryan, Greg and Tony Weispfenning; two sisters and two brothers, Lois (Ed Sommer) Sandsmark, San Leandro, CA; Myron (Betty) Koeppe, Sisseton, SD; Phyllis Lentz, Lidgerwood, ND; Dean (Elaine) Koeppe, Veblen, SD; one sister-in-law, Berniece (Kenneth) Holien, Golden Valley, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Anne Hinnenthal, and 2 brothers-in-law, Hardy Sandsmark and Hermann Lentz.
Visitation for Marlys will be Wed., Feb. 21, 2007, from 4 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at 10:30 AM, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial will follow in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
