Mary C. Cook, 89, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009 in The Evergreens, Moorhead.

Mary Cecilia Reddy, daughter of Clarence and Anne (Goodheart) Reddy, was born June 21, 1920, in Graceville, MN. She grew up in the Barry, MN, area, and attended school in Graceville.

On Feb. 8, 1938, Mary married Virgil Cook, at Dumont, MN. They lived in Graceville, Wheaton, White Rock, and Breckenridge, all MN. While in Breckenridge, Mary worked as a nurse's aide for more than 20 years, at a local nursing home. She attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, where she received her diploma and became an LPN.
In 1968, the family moved to Moorhead, and later to Dilworth, MN. Mary worked as a nurse at Elim Care Center in Fargo and she worked at the Moorhead Manor. She retired in 1982.
Mary loved being a grandmother. She also enjoyed gardening, especially roses, and was an avid garage sale shopper. Her husband, Virgil, preceded her in death in 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Kevin, and a granddaughter, Kari Lee Boles.

Mary is survived by a son, LaRue (Kathy) Cook, Moorhead; two daughters, Linda (Kelly) Summerville, Circle Pines, MN, and Karen (Jerry) Boles, Andover, MN; three sisters, Ann Hendricks, Graceville, Lucille Hendricks, Bemidji, MN, and Evelyn Birchem, Fergus Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.


Visitation: Wednesday, 5 PM to 7 PM,
Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN with a Prayer Service at 7 PM.


Funeral service: Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at 11 AM,
St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.


Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
