Mary J. Dickelman, 81, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in the Golden Living Center, Moorhead.
Mary Jane Markegard was born February 5, 1929, to Alfred and Jennie (Johnson) Markegard in Moorhead where she grew up and received her education. As a young woman, Mary began working as a nursing assistant at St. John's Hospital.
On August 25, 1950, Mary married Ardell Dickelman in Moorhead where they made their home. Mary continued to work for St. John's and eventually St. Ansgar Hospital where she retired after working there for thirty years.
Mary moved into the Heritage Villa Assisted Living in 2008 and became a resident of the nursing home this past December due to failing health.
Mary was a member of the Moorhead VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play pull-tabs, Bingo and solve crossword puzzles. Mary also enjoyed treats and candy. She always had enough to share with friends, family and her caregivers at Golden Living.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne and Paul Dickelman; a daughter, Deb Siegel; a daughter-in-law, Julie Dickelman; three grandchildren, Layne, Lindsey (Rick) and Lesley; three step grandchildren, Lucas, Nick and Alexis; and three great-grandchildren, Bray
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ernest, Herbert and Clarence; and a sister, Gladys.
