Mary Jane 'M. J.' Borman was born in Fargo, ND, on June 4, 1926. She grew up in Abercrombie, ND. She attended high school in Minneapolis, MN, and graduated from Washburn High School. She earned her B.A. from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, in 1947.
She worked for Lutheran Social Services in Fargo for many years before moving to Bismarck, ND, where she worked for the state of North Dakota in the Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Division until her retirement.
Mary Jane died on Sunday, April 27, 2008, in the Missouri Slope Care Center, Bismarck, ND, at the age of eighty-one.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Nelle Borman; and her brothers, Paul, Fargo and David, West Fargo, ND. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mark Borman, Minneapolis, Ann Borman, Apple Valley, MN, Nick Borman, Omaha, NE, Jane Borman, Scottsdale, AZ, Kathleen Barsness, Baudette, MN, Suzanne Dutzin, Wadena, MN, and Rodney Rydie, Burleson, TX. She also leaves many lifelong friends and colleagues who will always remember her life of service to others, her gentle ways, and her sense of humor.
