Mary Lou Matejka

Mary Lou Matejka, 83, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, December 29, 2014, in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Mary Lou Rick, the daughter of Lawrence and Veronica "Verna" (Sedivy) Rick, was born April 7, 1931 in Breckenridge, MN. She attended grade school in Everdell, MN, and at the age of ten moved to Pelican Rapids, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School in 1949. After graduation she moved with her sister, Alyce, to Breckenridge where she worked at Alstadt's Drug Store.
On November 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Frank Matejka in Elizabeth, MN. They resided in Breckenridge until 1973 when they moved to Moorhead. In 1986 they moved to Fargo. Frank passed away October 12, 2012.
Mary Lou was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a longtime member of the Christian Mothers in Breckenridge and Moorhead. She was a member of the Great Northern Railroad Ladies Auxiliary, local bowling leagues, the Ponderosa and Village Green ladies golf leagues, and served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years.
Mary Lou enjoyed needle work, going to the casino, and spending time with her granddaughter.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas of Breckenridge and Jerald (Beverly) of Gillette, WY; daughters, Susan Matejka of Fargo, Nancy (Bryce) Boehler of Lisbon, ND, and Janet Matejka of Fargo; granddaughter, Bailey Boehler; stepgrandchildren, Kally Glander, Barry Crowell, Craig Crowell and Wade Mesker; great-stepgrandchild, Chad Hingst and Breinne Glander; great-great-stepgrandchild, Thomas Glander; sisters, Alyce Jensen of Fargo, and Jean Ann Deuel of Eagle Bend, MN; brother, Theodore (Darlene) Rick of Sebeka, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; daughter-in-law, Carole; brothers-in-law, Willard Jensen and Ken Deuel; and stepgrandchildren, Lloyd Hingst, Jr., and Dawn Crowell.
A visitation for Mary Lou will be Thursday from 3 PM until 5 PM, with a 5 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral service will be Friday, January 2, 2015, at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial will take place in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Breckenridge, MN.
