Mary S. Moore, 83, Fargo, ND, died Monday, June 29, 2009, in Elim Care Center, Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Mary Rose Scherling was born May 11, 1926, to Arvid and Sophia (Wagner) Scherling in Fargo. She graduated from Fargo Central High School then attended and graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics.
While attending college, Mary worked for Scherling Photography and she had the opportunity to travel to Chicago and New York where she was trained in hand-coloring photographic portraits.
On November 10, 1948, Mary married Mark Moore in Fargo and they made their home in St. Paul, MN. The family moved several times due to Mark's jobs, but eventually returned to Fargo in the 1960's.
Mary was an active member of the Bible Study group at Salem Evangelical Free Church, Fargo, and also at Moorhead Evangelical Free Church. She belonged to the One Dozen Roses Club and the Cappa Delta Sorority at NDSU. She enjoyed cooking and canning, as well as vegetable gardening and sewing. She was an avid reader and loved the poem "Dolls" by Robert W. Service.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; Moorhead, MN; four children, Terry Moore, Phoenix, AZ, Barbara Moore, Long Beach, CA, Holly Moore, Sierra Madre, CA, and Mark Moore III, Long Beach, CA; three grandchildren; and a brother, Dan Scherling. She was prec
