MaryLou Rosenfeldt

January 25, 1927 — July 19, 2009

MaryLou Rosenfeldt, age 82, Dilworth, MN, formerly of Sabin, MN, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
MaryLou Schenck was born January 25, 1927, to Merle and Cora (Cook) Schenck, neat Baker, MN. She attended grade school at District 58, near Baker. In 1979, MaryLou received her GED. MaryLou took piano instructions from Miss Havel at Mrs. Sherf's big house in Barnesville, MN, from Bea Sommers at Downer, MN, and Lucille Dyer at the Concordia Conservatory of Music, above Daveau Music Company in Fargo, ND. She played accordion at a Shriners dance at the Sabin Hall, at the age of 13, with Mrs. Sommers.
MaryLou was united in marriage to Elmer Rosenfeldt, June 20, 1948. They farmed with his father near Sabin.
MaryLou played with many dance bands in the area, and at one time was a member of the Musicians Union 283, of Fargo. She was organist at many churches throughout her life, and played piano, accordion, or organ at many programs, weddings and funerals. She also played piano for sing-along groups every Tuesday morning at the Hjemkomst, and every third Tuesday at Park View Terrace in Moorhead. MaryLou was currently a member of First Presbyterian Church of Moorhead, where she sang in the adult choir. She loved her music, but always said she loved her children most.
MaryLou was a life member of the Albert E. Johnson VFW 1223 Auxiliary, and filled the office of District, as well as National, Musician. She sewed countless lap robes and shirt protectors for the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, and the Silver Bay Veterans Nursing Home, as well as walker bags for Eventide Lutheran Home. She believed strongly in taking care of our veterans, because they took good care of us. Marylou had a strong patriotic ethic. She was always the first on her feet when the flags went by in parades.
She worked many seasonal jobs in the potato business over the years. Later, she worked at Bethany Homes in Fargo, and at the Johnson Organ Company, assisting with tuning of pipe organs. She spent many hours as a Senior Companion at Lutheran Social Servi
MaryLou is survived by her children, Virginia, Moorhead, Susan (Gordon) Gruchalla, Sabin, and Ernest, Moorhead; sister, Ellen Mortenson, Moorhead; brothers, George (Bernice) Schenck, Ulen, MN, and Harold (Irene) Schenck, Baker; sisters-in-law, Marlys Sche
Memorial service: Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 2 PM, in First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead. Private inurnment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin, MN, at a later date.
