Mavis Adele Fredricks

Mavis Adele Fredricks, 77, of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, July 31, 2015, in Mayo-St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. Mavis A. Clark was born August 7, 1937.

Mavis is survived by her children, Delmont (Laurie) Fredricks, Ramsey, MN, Duane Fredricks, Moorhead, Mary (Jeff) Lee, Breckenridge, MN, and Steven (Kelley) Fredricks, Eagan, MN; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmont Sr. and her parents, Ora and Ellen Clark.

Mavis was a kindred spirit with a smile so wide, you'd broaden yours to meet her gusto. She greatly enjoyed sharing her gift of gab and laughter, with those she volunteered with at the Hjemkomst Center and as a nursing assistant in Eventide on Eighth, both Moorhead. Her creations tickled her grandchildren, as she'd often include bits and pieces of whatever their latest interests were, in the things she made for them.

Mavis had a passionate love for Jesus and demonstrated it in her working with and interacting with children, along with a willingness to speak to anyone about Him. She ran a home daycare for years, and would absolutely light up with children at the Hjemkomst Center. She received her strength and passion for life from her church, River Valley Assembly of God, and was close to many members of her congregation. Her zest for learning, digging for historical facts, and years engaged in the BSF study of the Bible from cover to cover, twice, sustained her free time. She was a naturally curious person.

Most importantly, Mavis was a loving grandma. Her grandchildren were her everything and she loved them dearly. Her favorite thing was whatever they were interested in at the time. Her happiness truly came from the joy in her grandkids' hearts. Mavis could go for long car rides and get lost along the way. Inevitably she would find her way home and call it an adventure. On July 31, 2015, Mavis found her way home, once again - this time, into the arms of angels.
